Crossing House — concept design, axonometric study
The idea
A bridge that is also a street: housing and workshops strung across the lagoon, so the crossing becomes an address instead of a distance.
Abidjan lives around its lagoon and loses hours crossing it. Crossing House treats the crossing itself as buildable land: a habitable deck strung between two slender towers, carrying homes, workshops and a public promenade over the water.
The section works like a street turned on its side — commerce at the deck, dwellings above, the promenade running the full span with the lagoon on both hands.
Bridges are usually pure engineering. This one is drawn as civic architecture: the fastest way across the water is also a place worth stopping.
