SYFORD

The practice

Architecture for
a changing climate

Who we are

SYFORD is an architecture and urban design studio working between West Africa and Europe, on buildings that take their climate as seriously as their form.

The studio’s method is the same on every project: start from a real place and a real problem — heat in Bamako, a lagoon that divides Abidjan, housing that turns its back on daylight — and answer it with structure, section and light rather than styling.

The studio works between West Africa and Europe, in French and in English, at every scale a first commission might take: a pavilion, a house, a competition, a tower on paper.

What it does

Concept & feasibility

First drawings for a site you own or covet: massing, program, orientation, and an honest opinion on whether it should be built at all.

Competition entries

Full competition packages — narrative, drawings and imagery — for clients and collaborating practices who need a sharp idea fast.

Full architectural design

From sketch to permit to site. The studio is small enough that the person who drew the idea follows it to the last detail.

3D visualisation

The same eye that draws the studio’s own projects, applied to yours — models and images that argue for a project, not just decorate it.

What we build toward

SYFORD designs for the world that is coming, not the one that is leaving — buildings that house more people, in harder climates, with less harm. Every project is a step across that bridge.
